Brisbane’s BIG NO: Hundreds Gather to Say No to a Stadium in Victoria Park / Barrambin

On 1 February, 2025, over 400 passionate community members came together in Victoria Park / Barrambin to take part in the BIG NO - a powerful display of public opposition to the proposed stadium development in the park. People of all ages stood shoulder to shoulder, forming a giant human NO as a clear message to decision-makers: this park is not for sale.

The event featured a diverse lineup of speakers from across the political spectrum and various fields, all united by a common cause - saving Victoria Park. Speakers included -

🔹 Campbell Newman – Former LNP Queensland Premier

🔹 Grace Grace – Serving Queensland state Labor MP for McConnel

🔹 Jonathan Sriranganathan – Former Greens Brisbane City Councillor

🔹 Dr Fabiola Martin – Member of Doctors for the Environment Australia

🔹 John Brannock – Heritage adviser and former chair of the Queensland Heritage Council

🔹 Te Maumahara Morris – 9-year-old park campaigner and primary school student

The event attracted strong media attention, with journalists and cameras capturing the formation of the BIG NO.

With over 400 people standing together in the park today, the message is loud and clear: Victoria Park is not a vacant lot waiting for development - it’s a vital community space that belongs to the people.
